I highlighted important facts
Dave I think if it weren't for the facts that you stated, the obvious expense in XBall - that I might see this differently - however with the current state of the economy and the resulting drop in team sponsorships that have already occurred and will be even more drastic in the upcoming season - having only one now nationally recognized format could be bad for the sport as well. Lets face it - the PSP probably isn't in any better a situation due to the nature of their game - like you said - the amount of paint used in one game compares easily to the amount of paint used by some teams in one event. There aren't a whole lot of teams who have sponsorships or who can even afford to practice XBall in order to then go play XBall. Not to mention that for that same reason, a lot of local leagues do NOT do Xball - so now do the leagues transform to cater to the only Professional league in the country - and risk alienating tournament players all together? or do they stick to what works for them - as you said - there aren't many traveling teams anyway - so now we stick to 7 man. Will a 7 man team ever play in the PSP just because if they want to play nationally they have to? and when they don't - what will that mean for the PSP? There isn't the type of feeder system in place that there was for 7 man - and while i know 5 man can and usually does lead to XBall - ramping is the difference. Teams start in 3 man than go to 5 man then 7 - and the transition is easy because the basics of the game remain the same. If XBall and ramp are the only thing to aspire to now - then some teams may reconsider their whole career after the cost of their first event - or at least their parents will. When that happens - when teams just cannot afford to play the only game in town - again, where will that leave the PSP? A bigger question - where will that leave tournament paintball? I am not saying that we didn't need something big to happen - i just don't think a loss like this was it. A compromise of the 2 leagues maybe - but not this.

The NEPL is asking all Captains to contact her (LORI) via e-mail. There will be a Captains Meeting very soon on the current status of the NEPL/NPPL. It's important that someone from your teams represents. It's usually a majority vote.
Go to the NEPL PBN Site.
